How to Set Up URL & Email Forwarding with DNS Hosting

Within your Synergy Wholesale System account, you have access to various DNS Hosting options to customise your domain setup. Among these is URL & Email Forwarding. URL forwarding lets you redirect visitors from your domain to another web address, while Email Forwarding automatically directs emails sent to your domain’s email addresses to another email account, simplifying email management without needing a separate mail server.

1. Login to the Synergy Wholesale Management System.
2. Click on Domain Names in the menu on the left. Select ‘Manage‘ from the dropdown.
3. The current DNS configuration for your domain is displayed next to the domain name as a clickable link. Clicking on this link will take you directly to the Nameservers & DNS option. Alternatively, you can click on the domain name, providing access to the Nameservers & DNS option.
4. Under DNS Options, select URL & Email Forwarding, then click Update.
5. After updating, options to add URL and Email Forwarding will appear at the bottom of the page.

DNS Redirection Options

Synergy Wholesale provides four types of DNS redirection options:

• 301 Redirect: A permanent redirect for when a webpage has permanently moved to a new URL. This passes all SEO value to the new page.
• 302 Redirect: A temporary redirect, useful if you plan to revert back to the original URL later. This keeps the original page’s SEO ranking intact.
• HTML Redirect: Uses a meta tag in the HTML page to automatically redirect visitors to a new URL.
• Cloak: Hides the destination URL from the visitor, showing your original domain in the browser while displaying content from a different page.
