Resolving email issues detected for your VentraIP reseller service
If you have a VentraIP Reseller service, you may find yourself using our migration tool to simplify your migration path to Synergy Wholesale.
When using this tool, our system may have detected some email addresses within your cPanel accounts using mail connections that need attention to move to Synergy Wholesale. This tool will allow you to download a CSV of the email addresses where an issue was detected, followed by the issue detected/reason code. This guide will walk you through how to resolve the issues detected to ensure your client’s mail connections are safe and secure.
Hosting services at Synergy Wholesale are PCI compliant to ensure our partners and their clients have a secure online environment. As a result, email accounts using IMAP and POP3 will require to be connected via SSL encryption to remain functional using third-party mail clients.
What action needs to be taken?
Using the CSV file from the migration tool, you will find a reason code. Each reason code correlates with the issue listed below.
Reason 1 Action: The end-user is not using any security at all to connect to their emails. They will need to enable the SSL/TLS encryption method on their third-party email client. Note: They may also need to upgrade their mail client and/or operating system if they do not meet security standards. Please see this FAQ.
Reason 2 Action: The end-user is using an older, outdated and insecure version of SSL/TLS. The end-user will need to upgrade their mail client. Note: They may need to update their operating system. Please see this FAQ.
Reason 3 Action: The end-user is using an older, outdated and insecure version of SSL/TLS, and an incorrect hostname for the mail server. The end-user will need to update the mail server settings to “mail.theirdomain.com” (replace theirdomain.com with their own domain name).
The end-user will also need to upgrade their mail client. Note: They may need to update their operating system. Please see this FAQ.
Reason 4 and 5 Action: The end-user is using an incorrect hostname for the mail server. They will need to update the mail server settings to “mail.theirdomain.com” (replace theirdomain.com with their own domain name).
