How do I customise my MX records within cPanel?

If you’re using the Synergy cPanel web hosting nameservers you may wish to customise your MX records; to add, remove or edit records as required.
To add a new record
- Login to cPanel.
- Click on the MX Entry icon.
- Select the domain you wish to edit.
- Scroll down to Add New Record.
- Enter the priority of the record and it’s destination.
- Click Add New Record.
To edit an existing record
- Login to cPanel.
- Click on the MX Entry icon.
- Select the domain you wish to edit.
- Scroll down to MX Records.
- Identify the record you wish to amend and click Edit.
- Adjust the priority and/or destination as required.
- Click Edit to save.
To delete an existing record
- Login to cPanel.
- Click on the MX Entry icon.
- Select the domain you wish to edit.
- Scroll down to MX Records.
- Identify the record you wish to remove and click Delete.
- Press the Delete link which appears to confirm it’s removal.
Please be aware that DNS records edited in here only work if the Synergy cPanel web hosting nameservers are being used, if any other nameservers are being used on the domain these records will not be applicable. If you opt to use an external MX host, we recommend changing your “Email Routing” on the MX entry page to “Remote Mail Exchanger”; if you’re using the local server (default) for email we recommend leaving this option on “Automatically Detect Configuration”.
When DNS records are adjusted please allow up to 24 hours for DNS to propagate.
