The Synergy Wholesale Management System now contains a full list of registered .au domain licenses currently registered using invalid registrant data. In order to hold a .au domain license, policy states that registrants of a .au domain name license must remain eligible to hold the license - 2019-01 - .au Domain Administration Rules: Licensing Policy, Section 2.14.  Whilst registrants may have been eligible to register their domain license at the time of registration; they risk not being able to renew their domain if their registrant details become invalid.

We have recently become aware of a phishing scam currently targeting many domain name registrants which fraudulently advises them that their domain name registration has been ‘suspended’. In an attempt to bait users to click and subsequently download a malware file, the fraudulent email claims that the domain name has been suspended by Synergy Wholesale because the registrant has failed to respond to previous email and telephone notices to "...address the complaints".

There have recently been a few announcements regarding the Certification Authority and Browser industries replacing the SHA-1 hashing algorithm with the more secure SHA-2. Each major industry player (namely Microsoft, Google and Mozilla) have all announced their own various plans to stop supporting SHA-1 SSL certificates after January 1, 2017 - some have taken a slower approach  some taking rather prompt action We're pleased to announce that all new SSL Certificates issued through Trustwave will now utilise the SHA-2 (also known as SHA-256) hashing algorithm.

As part of the ICANN 2013 RAA, Synergy Wholesale is required to verify the Registrant contact in the following instances; after a domain name registration, at the time of a domain name transfer and, at the time of an update to the Registrant contact This is designed to lead to a higher accuracy level of WHOIS data and will be done by an automatic process that sends the Registrant contact a verification email (similar to a transfer confirmation email) that needs to be 'clicked' within a specific time period, or the domain will be placed in a ClientHold status (and any DNS resolution will be suspended). We will be enabling this functionality on Friday, 30 May 2014 for ALL new registrations, transfers and contact updates.
