What is an auDA Complaint? The .au Domain Administration Limited (auDA) is the policy body that manages and enforces the rules for all domains in the .au namespace.
With guidance from auDA, we’re making changes to improve the eligibility validation process, aiming to reduce eligibility complaints and the subsequent potential loss of invalid .au domains. All .au domain renewals and inbound transfers will undergo a validation check.
Email Subject: auDA Complaint (Cancelled ABN) for [Domain] - 14 Day Notice This is the most common auDA complaint as you are not able to hold a .au domain name with a cancelled ABN. These cases generally arise if you move to a new ABN but do not update the Domain Name as well.
Email Subject: auDA Complaint (Cancelled ACN) for [Domain] - 30 Day Notice Similar to a cancelled ABN, you cannot hold a .au Domain Name with a cancelled or deregistered ACN. These are slightly different from the Cancelled ABN cases, as: You cannot reactivate a cancelled ACN; The domain cannot be renewed or updated while the auDA complaint is active, and; You must provide documentation that is dated before the ACN on the domain was deregistered.
Email Subject: auDA Complaint (Ineligible Trust) for [Domain] - 14 Day Notice If you have received an auDA complaint referring to an Ineligible Trust, auDA no longer allows Domain Names to be registered under a Trust ABN. Instead, the Trustee information must be listed as the Domain Name's Registrant.
Email Subject 1: auDA Complaint (Ineligible for .org.au) for [Domain] - 14 Day Notice Email Subject 2: auDA Complaint (Ineligible for .asn.au) for [Domain] - 14 Day Notice Domain Names in the .org.au & .asn.au namespaces are reserved for entities that fall under auDA's definition of a not-for-profit entity. These complaints often occur if the Domain Name is registered to a profitable entity (e.g., a private company) or the not-for-profit information is missing from the Domain Name's Registrant information.
Email Subject 1: auDA Complaint (Warranty Check) for [Domain] - 14 Day Notice Email Subject 2: auDA Complaint (.id.au Warranty Check) for [Domain] - 14 Day Notice When auDA performs a Warranty Check, it means that they cannot determine how a Domain Name meets their allocation rules. When performing these checks, auDA compares the Registrant information to the domain name itself.
auDA may audit your domain if it has Ineligible Details. This means that auDA cannot confirm if you meet allocation criteria based on the Registrant information on your Domain Name.

When transferring a domain name between registrars, you may be required to provide a domain name password (sometimes called EPP code or AuthInfo). Depending on which registrar your domain is registered through and what type of domain you have, the steps to obtain your domains authorisation code may differ.
If your domain name has been stolen, hijacked or transferred but remains with Synergy Wholesale when you perform a lookup via WHOIS you should contact us through your Synergy Wholesale partner account by submitting a new support request. We can investigate this issue for you to provide as much information as we can within the realms of privacy law, however we cannot guarantee reversal of actions - this will be determined at the time of investigation based on facts available to us.
As Synergy Wholesale is a business purely servicing wholesale clients, we have no direct retail systems. We have a responsibility to the domain name owners and the registrants of the domain names, so we can provide assistance where a reseller of our services is no longer contactable.
The criteria for registering a .AU domain name varies depending on the extension. To view the full criteria please see auDA's documentation online here.
Please note that a Change of Registrant comes at a cost to the value of how many years you wish to hold the registration for. If there are a whole number of years (1 year, 11 months = 1 year) left on the existing term of the Domain Name, then those years will be passed on to the new Registrant.
