Will I need to pay to transfer my domain names to Synergy Wholesale?
Sometimes.
Different domain extensions are managed by different registries, and depending on how that registry processes transfers, you may need to renew the domain name as part of the transfer - others allow domain names to be transferred at no cost (retaining the original expiry period without a renewal).
With the exception of the below, domain extensions will incur a cost to transfer, and an additional year's registration will be applied to the domain on completion of the transfer.
Domain extensions that allow free transfers (renewal optional)
Most ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domain) extensions are free to transfer without a required renewal.
Below is the list of TLDs that do not require renewal on transfer:
Synergy Wholesale now provides a feature that allows you to prepopulate DNS records on our DNS hosting service for inbound transferring domains! This can be particularly useful for setting up an existing DNS zone from another provider with us before the transfer is completed, which will automatically update the nameservers and set the DNS records once the transfer is completed, avoiding potential downtime.
Before proceeding
Make sure you also update any website hosted on the service to work with the new domain name
Ensure that the domain name you are changing the primary domain to, is not already setup as an Addon Domain or Alias

Login to your Synergy Wholesale account
Click on Hosting
Click on Manage
Click on the service you want to change the primary domain for
Click on Maintenance
Click Change Primary Domain
Input the new domain name
Click Change Primary Domain
You might be wondering why you're seeing Synergy Wholesale listed in a WHOIS lookup you've performed on a domain name. This is because we're a domain name wholesale provider, we have many Partners that register domains through us.
Registration
New .au domain names can be registered for a minimum of 1 year to a maximum of 5 years. A domain's initial registration period cannot exceed 5 years (1,825 days).
There are no minimum obligations for you to retain your Synergy Wholesale partner account and no set periods of contracts that may require you to have a minimum duration on your active services. All of Synergy Wholesale's hosting services are not locked-in.
